OVERVIEW Dorian is a "flawed" DRN series android that was designed to be a partner for a human detective with the Police Department. Technician Rudy Lom introduces Detective John Kennex to Dorian. He possesses some level of emotional awareness that the MX-43 series lacks, and he was mothballed after these emotions were deemed a "flaw." After Detective Kennex terminated the MX-43 unit that was assigned to him (by way of an "accident"), it is decided that this flaw would be a good match for Detective Kennex. Since Detective Kennex also has "issues" of his own, making Dorian more relatable to him. Dorian was decommissioned in January 2044, 4 years and 3 months before he was re-activated to partner with John PERSONALITY ● strengths: Empathy: Dorian is programmed with a synthetic soul. He is able to connect and relate to people immediately. He is compassionate, kind and very generous to all people he comes across and never discriminates against their circumstances. Dorian also engages on a personal level even when the necessity of the job does not hinge on his doing so, always go the extra mile to make sure people are comfortable around him and even performing small tasks and deeds to help make people’s lives easier. Reliable: As a member of the law enforcement, Dorian prides himself on his dependability. Especially as an android, he pushes himself to be available, no matter how dire and difficult the situation, even at the possible risk to himself and his circuitry. He is not reckless in his endeavors, more than willing to listen and step back unless human lives are involved. Dorian will always do whatever it takes to protect life. Independent: Despite appearances, Dorian can be a bit of a “troll”. He takes great pleasure in teasing his partner into doing things he would never do, often sarcastically or caustically pointing out problems or issues. He is not afraid to prod and poke people in unexpected directions in public and in private, earning him the nickname of “Benedict Android”. Dorian has a decent amount of self-esteem, not one to bow down simply because he is considered “inferior”, treating others as he himself would like to be treated. ● weaknesses: Naivety: While Dorian has a large database and the ability to make logical and empathetic mental leaps of emotional logic, he does not actually have his own human experience to base his answers on. He often questions faith, life after death, and other philosophical quandaries that other robots would never answer and most humans would ignore coming from an android like himself. Establishing Worth: Dorian is an android on shaky ground. Most others like him went “mad” and were deactivated, never to be used again. As such, Dorian has a strong need to make himself useful and necessary at all times so that such a fate will never befall him and he can continue to do what he feels gives his life meaning. For Dorian, his greatest fear is being shut off, becoming worthless and obsolete. Self-Worth: As stated before, Dorian will always put people’s lives ahead. Especially above his own. He is a robot so he can withstand far more than any human would, but for Dorian, the fear of “death” is very much real for him as it is with any other living person. Dorian does not want to die or fade away, very much driven by a desire to live. However, he will always circumvent that desire to make sure other people survive. He will never place his own well-being over another human being and he is not capable of ever doing so. ABILITIES -Facial recognition with Vi-Fi integration with the Police Department database. -Wireless communication abilities including the ability to receive and transmit images. This also includes the ability to transfer a call to the PD communication devices via an initial touch transfer with his finger. -Can shut down all out going communication systems from himself if required. -Injection of samples directly into his neck and data sent off via Wi-Fi for analysis. -Reading the data from the neural net of a damaged MX-43. -DNA breath analysis via finger section. -The ability to speed read data on screen at a rate faster than humans. -Threat analysis location. -Hack into a secured data network. -Voice mimicry. -The ability to speak other languages, including Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese. -Detection of signals using the same frequency within a specific location range. -Light source from his eye socket. -The ability to measure the temperature of beverages by inserting his finger into the liquid. -Can adjust charge sheets of perpetrators remotely via the Vi-Fi integration ability. -Can run bio-scans on humans, including heart rate and internal-injury analysis. -The ability to run with a speed on par with a motor vehicle (a van). This speed also equates to climbing abilities. -The strength to flip a motor vehicle (the aforementioned van) and break through a wall. -The DRN's eyes are detachable and able to be used as a camera.
