I do not think it is a matter of easier or harder.

When I was awake, I spent all my time with John. I had to. He was the reason I was alive and continued to exist.

What would have happened if you did something without him around?

I know. I think I always knew that, but I didn't really feel anything about it until after I broke my programming.

Now the thought of you being shut down makes me angry.

We deserve to live just as much as any human.

Life has little to do with deserving it. People lie or die, regardless.

You know there's more to life than just that. Like enjoying the sea or discovering what music you like best.

I do. But I don't like the idea that a life must have merit.

Sometimes people should just be able to live. In whatever form it takes. It shouldn't be put on a scale.

But it's not the same. You saw that in my memories. All I want is for them to see us the way people see us here: like we're alive.

I know.

But it will take time to shift a mindset. I am alive but I am also a machine. It's important for me to remember that I'm both.

You're right. I shouldn't tell you who you should be.

[Emotions are still new to him. He doesn't have a good handle on them and they tend to run high, irrational. Anger, frustration, passion, longing, others so mixed up he can't identify. He needs to calm down]

It's a lot to take in. The way people are here compared to our respective worlds. But it's not their fault either. They've never known any other way.
